At their trade sale on Tuesday, 4SO sacks oats, ex Beautiful Star, were sold at prices ranging from 2s upwards. Messrs Lacry and Campbell report that owing to the inclemency of the weather business has been very slack since their last report. There was plenty of life in their market sale to-day, but fruit was not much in demand. Fresh butter brought 10d per 11) ; salt do, 3jd ; the bulk of the calt butter was withdrawn ; eggs were quite unsaleable ; fowls, 3s 9d to 4s per pair ; turkeys, 4s (id each ; a small lot of potatoes brought 4s (id per sack ; bacon and hams continue plentiful and hard to (put, and in other goods there is no alteration to report. George Thomas reports:—Flour (colonial) Lll 10s to LI2 ; oats. 2s (5,1 to 2s Sd for feed, and 2s 10:1 for seed ; bran, Lf>, hags in ; fowls’ wheat, 3s (id to 3s 9,1 ; maize, Is (id, no stocks ; pollard, L(i to L(i os ; potatoes, L 3 ; kidney seed, L 3 10s ; bacon, 8d ; hams, 9d to 10,1 ; cheese, 4d to 4.U1 ; salt butter, 8d ; fresh do, Sd to 9,'. ; fowls, 3s (id per pair : sggs, Is Id ; oats are not so linn, as several cargoes have arrived during the week which have had a tendency to weaken prices ; maize, bran, and good fowls’ wheat still remain scarce ; other lines remain the same as last week’s quotations. Auckland. Business during the past week has not experienced many disturbing influences, and is steady without being speculative. Flour advanced 10s; best local is Ll 3 ; southern done at LI2 ; oatmeal is quoted at LI4, and pearl barley at LlB. \\ hat with the. fall in potatoes at Sydney, and increased imports from the South, potatoes have an inclination to recede. Maize is scarce, and a line of Opotiki was done at 4? yesterday. Cheese overstocked ; prime lots are quoted at 4.Jpl per lb. Sydney bacon is rather difficult to quit at (Id, while Canterbury hams and bacon are worth Bd.
