[tfXITKW PRESS ASSOCIATION.] HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. Thursday. The House met at 2.30. Mr Fox gave notice of motion affirming the desirableness of restricting the sale of intoxicating liquor in Bellamy’s. In reply to questions put it was stated Government would make application to the authorities at Sydney for particulars as to thl> number of persons attacked by small pox, distinguishing between those who had been successfully vaccinated and those not vaccinated, ns also the mortality of each class. Mr Skcy, of Wellington, was the analyst appointed for testing agricultural soils and manures. Samples for analytical purposes could be forwarded to him post free, when the samples were of a nature which could be properly transmitted by post. The supposed deficiency in the Railway Stores Department, mentioned last year, had arisen from frequent changes in the | administration of working railways, and : the absence until recently of any properly ! organised accounting system. A Bill to authorise the construction of j certain railways was introduced and read a first time. The Canterbury Rivers Act Amendment, I and Waimatc and Temuka Public School | Bills were read a second time. The following passed through Committee, j were read a third time, and passed : j Kaikoura Harbor Reclamation ; Geraldine | Race-course Reserve ; Southland Agricul- ! tural Association Reserve ; Ringiora High j School; Akaroa High School ; Wairna- | kiru'i Harbor Board Loan ; Waimatc Racecourse Reserve ; Invercargill Gas Works ; Roxburgh Recreation Ground Management;
Christchurch Municipal Council Empowering Bill. The House adjourned at 5.30. This Day. Last night an Imprest Supply Bill for L 250,000 was passed through all its stages. The House then went into Committee on the Fencing Bill which was in charge of Mr Bryce, but which several members urged should have beem a Government measure. The discussion lasted until 2.30. when all tho clauses were got through and a new one added. ' Progress was reported on the understanding that the Bill would be recommitted. Replying to a question from Mr Speight Mr Hall said Government would endeavor to have the new clause (leasehold qualification) which was inserted in the Representation Bill, struck out again. The House rose at 2.35.
