A MODEST REQUEST.
To the Editor. Sir,- I have recently arrived from the land of the Stars and Stripes, and for many years was on the staff of General Washington, reporting the War of Independence for the Bunkurnvillc Recorder, a seiniocoasional paper published in that thriving locality. You will thus see that I have had a lengthy experience of newspaper work, and as I have now removed to New Zealand lam anxious to find employment in my former capacity, and therefore have now the honor to apply for the position of Wellington correspondent to your journal. I may inform you confidentially that a rigid adherence to truth is my only weak point, but nevertheless I will guarantee to
find swamps where none exist, will turn out ministries daily and again reconstitute them ; will unseat all the members of Parliament at one foil swoop and nominate their successors, or exotito any of the “ honest ” tasks that appears to fall to the ot of the average Wellington correspondent, All this I will undertake to do for the small sum of 7« (Id per week, wire charges not included. Most of the news I can gather from the local papers, but the imaginative part will he a labor of love.—l am &c., JOSKPIII'S OI!AX(iF.i!LO.SSOM . Wellington, July 20th, ISSI.
