HAVELOCK.

[From Our Own Correspondent.] May 20. Tiie Foresters’ ball was well attended on Monday, the 21th, and the night being fine was a groat advantage to parties coming from a distance. There were about 36 couples present, the Town Hall being comfortably filled. It was tastefully decorated with llags of various nationalities and the insignia of the Order. The cuisine was under the direction of the wives of tiie Foresters and was as usual of the most profuse description. The music was siqi-Jr plied by Messrs Clark and YTinnini, aim that, with other matters of detail, gave general satisfaction. Dancing was kept up with great spirit until -1 o’clock on Tuesday morning, The general opinion is that this ball has been the most successful of any yet given by the Foresters. On Tuesday afternoon the children of the district were well attended to, as they all had tea supplied them, and the evening’s amusements wound up with a dance. I t is one of the pleasing features of Havelock that the children are always looked after, and they come in for their share of whatever may be going on. After a long period of quiet the Resident Magistrate will have a little work to do today, tiie most serious being that of an inquest to lie held on Daniel Leo, whose body will have to be exhumed. Further particulars will be sent.
