THE COURTS.
RESIDENT MAGISTRATE’S COURT, Havelock, December 9. (Before John Allen, Esq,, R.M.) Police v. Murphy. —Drunk and disorderly. Jeremiah Murphy pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly on the night of Saturday, December 4th, and was fined Is and costs 4s. O’Donnell v. Blackbee.— Assault. Sarah Blacklee was charged with assaulting Sarah O’Donnell. This was a neighbor squabble, defendant was fined Is and costs 9s. K in wan v. John Hippolitk.— Claim L 3. Defendant was non-suited and ordered to pay costs 13s. Ktrwan v. Olliver. —Claim Ll 5. Plaintiff non-suited, each party pay his own costs. LICENSING COURT. (Before John Allen, Esq., Chairman, \\ . K. Dive, and A. Hyde, Esqs., Commissioners.) A transfer of license from the executors of the late Richard Hutchinson, Masonic Hotel, was granted to Mary Hutchinson, the widow. Sureties—Robert Alexander and Thomas Brown. A transfer of license was granted to Thomas Maxted, Gibson’s Accommodation House, from Samuel Green. Mr Maxted was complimented by the Chairman on the improved state of the ford. The license of the All Nations Hotel ia to be cancelled at the end of the present month as the necessary conditions on which the license was granted in June last have not been complied with.
Extension of time was granted to Moses Fear, of the Commercial Hotel, for the night of December 27th, 18S0, and to IV. Dorreen, of Garrod’s Hotel, for the night of Monday, January 3rd, 1881. An application from Mr Dorreen was also made to enable him to erect a tent and supply refreshments at Hopai Bay, Peloiua Sound, on the 29th December, that being the day on which a regatta is to be held, the decision of which was postponed. Sergeant Goodall, who was in Court, stated lie had no objection to such being done. (£ There were no complaints of any kind brought by the Police against any of the houses. WARDEN’S COURT. (Before J. Allen, Esq., Warden.) An application for an extension of area by John Syms was granted. An application by G. C. McGlashan for a residence area was also granted. Messrs Jackson and Muncaster, of Wairau Valley, applied for a water race, but the matter was adjourned.
