Mr Aver}' said that some time ago he gave notice of his intention to bring forward the question of reductions in the official expenditure. The income of the Board having been so considerably reduced lie thought this course necessary. He had no fault to find with either the Inspector or Secretary, on the contrary, he regarded both as the best officers the Board could have, but in the interest of the ratepayers strict economy was’ now a necessity, and much as he regretted the fact lie considered a reduction should be made.
