He thought the public works scheme had, by the high wages paid, attracted miners and others from their proper avocations, but that now these would turn their attention again to mining and other industries. He would not vote for the introduction of the Bible into schools, even if such were shown to he the desire of the majority of the colonists. lie did not think it necessary to till the vacancy caused by Sir J.
