MEETING IN MAJOR MARTIN’S ESTATE.

A meeting of creditors in Major Martin’s estate was held at the Court-house this morning. Present—Messrs James T, Robinson (in the chair), Earll. Hustwick, Elbeck, Lawrence, Purser. Girling, Stem house (trustee.) There was another person present, hut he was deemed a stranger ” and was asked to withdraw. Dir Stenhouse said he had called the meeting in consequence of the action of Mr McNab, who had neglected to furnish Mr Rogers with a “ rule ” that was required in tlie°matter pending in the District Court. Mr McNab was absent and his clerk had gone to Christchurch. He (Mr Stenhouse) had telegraphed to Dir DlcNab who replied from Havelock that he would he back on Saturday, but he had not made his appearance. The costs in the case were to have been taxed on Saturday and Dir Sinclair was requested to see to that, which he agreed to do, aud it was then arranged that the matter should stand over. He (Mr S.) would recommend that the matter be entirely taken out of Dir DlcNab’s hands, as he had neglected the business altogether ; and that Dir Sinclair be communicated with.

Dir Robinson said they must either take the matter out of Dir DlcNab’s hands, and hand it over to another solicitor, or else drop the case altogether. Dir Earll moved that the matter be taken out of Mr MeNab’s hands, and be handed over to Dir Sinclair, if be would take the matter up, and that Dlr DfcNab be not paid any more money out of the estate. Mr Hustwick seconded the motion which was carried unanimously.

Mr Purser irioved th.lt Mr Girling. Mr Robinson, and the Trustee, should wait on j Mr Sinclair immediately, and ask him to : take up the matter. Mr Earll seconded the motion, which j was agreed to, 1 It was subsequently announced that Mr j Si del ah- consented to act. This cOUciudtd the business. !
