It is stated as a fact that a Baptist, in preaching a few weeks ago from tiie text, ‘ln those days came .John the Baptist preaching in the wilderness of Judina,’ used the following words : ‘O, how I like to read these words in the blessed Bible. Vou don’t read anywhere in it about John the Methodist, nor about John the Presbyterian, nor about John the Episcopalian, nor about •John the C’oagregationalist. But it is John the Baptist. 0, how I like to read that!’ A servant Lad received from his master a pair of leather unmentionables on condition that he was to support all the (juisconadtix which the master was in the habit of retailing at table. \\ hen a story was a little too strong for belief, and the auditors began to shrug their shoulders, the narrator turned to the faithful Jasmin for confirmation. Quite so, gentlemen,’ said he. ‘ I was there when it happened.’ One day, however, that the master related a story which exceeded all belief, poor Jasmin could hold out no lohger. ‘Master,’ exclaimed he, ‘that’s too strong! So I’ll rather return tile breeches. ’
