THE FOOT-BALL TEAM.

To the Editor. Dear Sir, —Please insert the following if you have space in to-day’s issue:— The criticism in last night's issue of the Express, on the Football Team, I could not allow to go unchallenged, It is such a piece of stupidness. The writer, I think, is either one that has not been picked, and feels riled at it, and so exhausts his veocm with the miserable article referred to, or knows nothing about football. At the same time I am writing this I think it would be a good opportunity to ask all the players to try to-morrow to have a final practice, as no doubt is would be a good thing to get the full team out before the match.—l am, &c„

One of them. To tiie Editor. Sir, — In your contemporary of last evening appears an absurd critique on the merits of the local football.team, the writer of which anyone can trace who ha 3 the smallest knowledge of the young man in question. As one of those criticised most unfavorably I may as well state that personally I do not care ad for “Goal Posts” opinion, but there are others to whom harsh criticism may have a contrary effect, to the extent of injuring their play on the day of the match. The sneer too, at the emergencies is just what one might expect from the writer, who has before figured in the anonymous “heavy tip ” business. His literary efforts are something like his playing—“he says too much about his friends when not wanted, and exercises too little judgment.” —I am, &c.,

Blenheim,
