OMAKA ROAD BOARD.
Tim Board met on Tuesday last, at 11 o’clock. All the members were present except Mr O’Sullivan. MrO. Redwood was elected chairman pro. tom. The Inspector of Works advised that a bridge be built over the Co-operative Drain, and also that a quantity of ditching be done. It was resolved that the bridge recommended by the Inspector Ire built, and tenders called for the work at once.
The Secretary reminded the members that Messrs O’Sullivan, liouldswortli and Dalziel retire by rotation. It was proposed by Mr Dalziel that the Secretary be Returning Officer to conduct the elections, and that lie call the next meeting by notice. The motion was seconded by the Chairman, and carried. On the motion of Mr liouldswortli, seconded by Dr Horne, it was resolved to metal about 25 chains of Redwood street. MIDDLE HOAD. Mr Jackson said lit would like the Board to hear the opinion of the Inspector of Works outlie Middle Road, which is in a deplorable state. The Inspector said it was useless doing any work unless the water was turned off the road. The Chairman said the Trustees of Woodbourne estate had determined to put the Fairhall back into its old channel. They bad asked him whether the Board would assist them in the work, and he had advised them to apply, as the work would be great saving to the Board jn maintaining the Middle Road. DASH WOOD PASS LOAD. The Chairman said that he had put some sand on the Dashwood Pass Road to do away with the tenacity of the clayey parts of it, but metal was also required. He moved that this work be done. The motion- wasjseconded by Mr Dalziel, and carried. lIKXWiCIC OLD LOAD. Mr Dalziel stated that the old road required metalling for about a mile west - - ward from the Town boundary, It was resolved that this work be done by tender, and as indicated by the Inspector of Works. FOOTBRTDOES. Mr Houldsworth proposed that certain footbridges spoken of by the Secretary be built in Renwick. The motion was seconded by the Chairman and carried, but it was an instruction to the Inspector of Works not to let the cost exceed £lO Mr Houldsworth complained of the bridges and other modes of crossing made over the Alabama ditch by settlers,_ which were many of them detrimental to it in a very great degree. He proposed that it be a general instruction to the Inspector of Works to order the removal of all unsuitable crossings of ditches and fords. The motion was seconded by the Chairman and carried.
