OMAKA ROAD BOARD.
Tuesday, May 11. A meeting of the Board was held this morning, at which all the members were present. Mr T. O’Sullivan in the chair. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. A letter was read from the Spring Creek Board, asking this Board to assist in opening a road through sections S 7 and 78 from the Spring Creek road to the Opawa river. On tiie motion of Mr Dalziel, seconded by Mr Redwood, it was agreed not to coiniffy with the request, as the interests of this Board and the Spring Creek Board were not identical in the matter, A letter was read from Mr J. R. W. Cook, requesting the Board to make a bridge over the co-operative drain where it crosses the Alabama Road. After some discussion, it was resolved on the motion of the Chairman, seconded by Mr Jackson, that the matter should stand over for the present, awaiting a more favorable state of the Board’s finances. An amendment by Mr Houldsworth, seconded by Mr Redwood, that the matter be referred to the Inspector of Works for him to report upon to the next meeting, was lost. The Chairman reported that the Board’s account at the Bauk was overdrawn, and moved that Mr Redwood and himself should be deputed to wait on the Manager and make arrangements for an overdraft. This was agreed to. On the motion of Dr Horne, seconrledby Mr Redwood, the Inspector of Works was instructed to report on the probable expense of extending the Alabama Road to the Dasliwood Pass Road, and as to the advisability of erecting a bridge over the cooperative drain before completing the road. The following accounts were passed for payment —Mr Gridloy, extra allowance on contract, £10; J. O'Brien, repairs of footbridge, 10s, County Council acoount £O, salaries £3 los.
