MARLBOROUGH LAND BOARD.

Monday. May 3rd. Tut: Board met at 10 o’clock. Present—The Chief Commissioner, and Messrs Paul, Robinson, and Dive. ‘The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The Chief-Surveyor reported that the survey of lands included in application S 3, situated on the Marshland Run, and held under lease by Mr Samuel Bowler, is now com pleted, and plans of the same can be laid be fore the Board when required. CORRESPONDENCE, &C.

A letter was read from the Umlcr-Sccre-tary of Crown Lands, stating that the Governor had appooved of the resolution of this Board that sections 1(58 and 109, and ISO and 181, Wet Inlet,. Pelorus be grouped together in terms of Section 0 of the Land Act 1577 Amendment ActlS79 ; also that the Governor has approved of the racommendation of this Boaad of sth April, and has fixed the price of the deferred payment sections, Nydia Bay, as follows in accordance with section n of the Land Act 1577 Amendment Act 1579 : Block 1 Section 1, 11 Sa. lr. Op, £ll9. 1 „ 1 47a. 2r. lop. £4B. ” 1 „ 1 92a. Or. Op. £92. Mr C. W. Smith wrote to the Board asking for a reduction to be made in the assesmeat of the land held by him on the deferred payment system at Kenepimt, 50 acres at £2 per acre. The Board considered there was no power to reduce the amount, and instructed the Secretary to info -m Mr Smith of this. Mr IT. G. Bell brought under the notice of the Board certain repairs that were required at the V'aihopai Accommodation House, namely, the erection of a verandah, etc., and undertaking to get the work done if the Board would consent to his deducting the amount of the cost from the rent. The Board discussed the matter, but passed no resolution upon it. Mr Joseph Taylor applied for a lease of a license of the Mahou llun, Kencpum (recently held in the name of John Mills) fora ten years. Tiie Board declared the license in the name of John Mills to be forfeited for nonpayment of rent, and that it be put up to auction at an upset rent of one penny per acre per year, subject to the Governors approval. The verbal application of Mr Daniel Love for a license under clause 149 of the Lands Act to occupy Montungaia Island, 50 acres, Queen Charlotte Sound, was considered. The Board deemed it advisable to grant the application. The Board appointed the Sth June, at the Survey office, Blenheim, as the time and place for the sale by auction of Bluming and Forsyth Isands. Licenses in favor of Messrs T. 11. Mills and Alfred Mills for lands at Wet Inlet, were issued.

ASSESSMENT OF LAND. Section 90, Picton Suburban, was assessed at the minimum price of suburban land, namely £3 per acre. Lands on the Marshland Run, Cloudy Bay Survey District, held under pastoral lease were classed as rural land and assessed at £1 per acre Block 4, section 1, 294 acres; Blook 1, section 1,102 alr4p ; ditto section 2,217 aOr 29p; ditto section S, 105 a 2r4p. The date for the sale by auction of this land was fixed for the Ist .July, The Board then adjourned.
