LITTLE’S SHEEP DIPPING FLUID.

Reports speak well of this preparation for the eradication of seal) in sheep. Several experiments have been made since its introduction into Marlborough which have resulted satisfactorily. Mr Nicholson, of Benhopai, has furnished us for publication the enclosed letter from Mr Carter, ef Hillersden, on tho subject, which will no doubt be interesting to many of our country readers : “ Hillersden, March 3rd. “ Mr John Nicholson. “Dear Sir—ln reply to your enquiry respecting “Little’s Sheep Dipping Fluid ” I would beg to say that of the 19th January we dipped in it nearly 200 sheep, all more or less troubled with scab : some of them being in a rather bad state. About half the number were dipped in a mixture of one gallon of the fluid to 50 gallons of water and the remainder in a strength of one gallon of fluid to 100 gallons of water. On the 31st January wo dipped all these sheep again in a strength of one gallon fluid to 100 gallons water. Chief Inspector Bayley closely examined these sheep on tho 27th February and pronounced them to be, so far as he could see, entirely free from scab. You may rely upon it that one gallon of the fluid to 100 gallons of water will make an efficacious dip ; in fact, looking at the constitution of these sheep before they were dipped I never saw two dips of any kind of preparation produce a better effect. I may say that the sheep mentioned were hand dipped, with their legs tied, and were kept immersed for about a minute. lam convinced that the general adoption of Lit tie’s Fluid will hinge entirely on its relative cost. I regret to say the price quoted would be considerably more than the cost of sulphur and lime. “ I am, dear Sir, “ Yours truly, “Thomas Carter”
