The following “ Training Notes,” with reference to the approaching meeting were received by the Wellington Post from Wanganui by telegraph yesterdaylnterest in the races is beginning to pile up, and the town is Hilling with visitors. Redwood’s three-year old filly, Magnolia, started on a journey of two miles with Talent, and after going rather short for a few hundred yards, the Cup candidate got away in good style, and led her stable mate past the stand the first time, when the latter was pulled up, and went down the straight to meet her; coming home the pair finished up well, the mare having the best of it. Numa cantered a little over a mile, and then wound up the last mile at three-quarter pace. Saunterer, Hornby, Lara, and Vampire each did a steady canter, the latter being stripped. Matau was treated to a steady two rounds, and Sou bar did double the distance at a very quiet pace. Laertes, with clothing on, was exercised by himself, the pace being slow. Balmoral and Loch Lomond were taken to the quarter-mile post, and after some fractious display Balmoral jumped away quickly and led Lomond past the stand at a good pace, but the pair came home well together. Grey Mom us went two rounds, the pace at first being slow. The old Grey is going well. Mufti went a long gallop with the hood on, but he did not please my informant much. King Quail, though rather sore at first, did good work for about two miles, and Ratcatcher accompanied him when off the distance. Hippo, with a hood and neck-pieco on, <hd a light sweat; and Libeiler and Billingsgate —ridder respectively by Taylor and T. Hudson -—were sent along together, the style of Libel er being much admired. Confident gal'oped two miles, and Resolution, Opawa, and Raudwick walked.
