TE POI.

CARNIVAL DANCE. An enjoyable dance was held in the Memorial Hall on Tuesday night in aid of the Farmers’ Queen in connection with the forthcoming Matamata Catholic carnival. There were about 60 couples present and a good floor and good music both combined to make the occasion an unqualified success. The music was supplied by an orchestra consisting of Miss Kusabs (piano), Mrs. Burke (violin), Mr. M. Bates, (bass) and Mr. Beresford (drums, etc.). The hall was nicely decorated with green streamers—green being .the colour adopted by the Farmers’ Queen. Supper was dispensed by the ladies of the district and was much appreciated. Messrs. Stan Reed and J. Richard made most efficient M.’sC.
