N.Z. MEAT PRODUCERS BOARD. SHIPMENTS OF MEAT FROM SOUTH AMERICA. The N.Z. Meat Producers Board now lias an agent, in South America, from whom it.will receive regular information. This will enable the Board ! to publish fortnightly communiques } showing the quantity of meat shipped ! by South America to the United King- ' dom and the Continent of Europe or I elsewhere from time to time. ! The shipments from South America i to the United Kingdom for the fort- ! night ended the 14 th instant were i 192,252 quarters chilled beef, 32,821 ! quarters frozen beef, 40,635 carcases ; mutton, 82,439 carcases lamb, whilst the quantity shipped to the Continent lof Europe during the same period I totalled 70,532' quarters, frozen beef, ! 13,389 carcases mutton. I The killings for the last six months represent an increase compared with the previous season of 52 per cent, as to cattle and a decrease of 11 per i cent, as to sheep. The extent of the ’ recent shipments to the Continent of Europe is encouraging. .. * HAMILTON. I At the' Farmers’ Auctioneering Co.’s Hamilton sale on Tuesday there : was a good entry of sheep, with a ! steady demand for mutton, butchers from outside centres operating. Heavy prime fat ewes made 31s 6d and 31s . 9d, lighter fat ewes 275, fat wethers | 32s 9d to 25s 6cl, forward hoggets 20s 2d to 225, 6d. There was a ready salo i for beef, mainly grown steers, lacking in finish, the best selling at £7 | 5s to £7 10s, lighter weights £6 to £6 I ss,- good fat cows £5 7s 6d to £5 15s. The advertised forward bullocks sold 1 well up to recent values, making £4 : 15s to £5 6s, store cows 265. and 27s | 6d, poor calves 10s to £1*48.. A ' smaller yarding of fat pigs realised I good values, baconers selling to £4 3s, 1 porkers to £2 15s. A large entry of > store pigs brought strong competition, t hrown stores selling* at from 2?s to 36s 6d, slips and other stores 16s to 265, weaners 10s ,to 14s 6d.
