GOOD PRICES REALISED. For Glyndyfrdwy Herd. What was probably tho largest sale of pedigree Jerseys yet held in the Thames Valley and Matamata dis- j ti’icts was that conducted by the Farmers’ Auctioneering Company for Mr. R. Glynn Lewis, of “ Glyndy- , frdwy,” Okoroire, on Thursday, j Seventy-two pedigree lots were offered and nil but tjiree were sold under the hammer. The herd was founded in 1911 by stock imported from Lord Rothchild’s Tving Park, Hertfordshire (England) estate, Mr. Lewis securing the bull Cutes Rozel Lad and the cow Bravery. Tn 1912 the herd was added to by the importation of seven heifers from tlie same estate. The sale was the first that has been hold by the breeder, who had never previously sold a female. Mv. Lewis, who is retiring from dairying, stated that lie had not been iibie to give the required time to the herd and consequently the cattle were not looking at their best. The first 28 lots offered were cows ranging in age from thirteen to three years and these averaged about 37!igns, The highest of these was Glydyfrdwy Belle (Cutes Rozel Lad Glyndyfrdwy Blonde), which was purchased by Mr. F. W. Walters at 80gns. The same breeder was also the highest bidder for Lady Golden Cute (Cutes Rozel Lad—-Lady Golden) at 7Ggns. This was closely followed by Glyndyfrdwy Betty f Lucy’s Cyril—Lady Battersea) at 70gns, which was paid bv Mr. Hazleton, of Waihou.
