WAOTU.

A narrow escape from serious accident was experienced by a motor car party driving between Putaruru and Waotu on Friday. The oar, driven by Mr E. P. Lees, of Putaruru, left the road at an awkward point near Waotu, and fell part way down an embankment. Fortunately the machine came to a standstill in time. Had another few. inches it would have fallen many feet and serious consequenoes would have resulted. Messrs Renwick Bros, pulled* the oar out of its dangerous position with the aid of three horses. Mr Stan. Chaplin has been appointed manager of Messrs Long and Ormiston’s mill at Waotu.
