Medical attention for people in poor circumstances was .the subject of comment at the County Council meeting on Friday. A letter was received from the Public Health Department stating that the Council could, subsidise a medical man and nurse. The chairman stated that a medical association should he formed. He was convinced that there was every possibility of the district being granted a maternity nurse, hut none for the installation of a cottage hospital. The Council decided to support the Mtttamata Town Hoard in connection with the former proposition, hut not tho latter. statements made by councillors at the County Council meeting on Friday pointed to the Thames Valley hydro-electric power hoard being well iiliead of any of the other districts. The public men of the Thames Valley district arc to he congratulated on the time and energy devoted in this direction,
