MATAMATA A. & P. ASSOCIATION.

A meeting of the executive committee of the above was held on Friday evening last, Mr C. G. Payze, president, occupying the chair. NEW GROUNDS. The chairman outlined the position regarding the necessity for new show grounds and explained that the executive committee had been authorised to proceed in the matter and submit its final recommendation to a special general meeting. Considerable discussion ensued regarding the racing club’s offer to lease its ground for the sum of £6O per annum. Finally, Mr Barugh moved, “ That this meeting appoints a committee of three to wait on the racing club, to lay the association’s financial position before the club and to endeavor to get the price of the lease of the ground reduced.” Messrs Madill, Bowler and Rollet were appointed a committee with the president and secretary. On the motion of Mr Simpson a motion was passed, “That this meeting considers the racing club’s price of £6O per year for the lease of its ground to be too high.” It was decided that the committee appointed to canvass for contributions to the cost of the erection of new yards, be re-appointed and authorised to renew its activities. GRAZING OF SHOW GROUNDS. It was resolved that Mr W. Egan be granted a monthly renewal of his lease of the show grounds on the same terms as last year and that he bo allowed to graze any cattle with the exception of bulls; also that he be given one month’s notice of the termination of his lease in the event of the association desiring to sell the property.

INCREASED SUBSCRIPTION. In response to a suggestion from the chair, Mr Rollett moved, “ That a circular letter be sent to all members of the association (excepting those of the executive committee) advising them that the member’s subscription has been raised to one pound, explaining the reason of the increase, and soliciting their continued support.”
