OBITUARY.
The death occurred at Te Poi on at the residence of his so-rt-Yn-law, Mr F. Read, of an old gentleman, Mr Joseph Asher. The deceased, who was seventy years of age, was a resident of New Plymouth, and was oil a visit to Matamata. He was seized suddenly on Sunday and died within a few minutes. An examination was made by Dr Carolan and it was found that the cause of death was senile decay, and cardiac syncope. As the deceased had previously been treated by a doctor at Mew Plymouth, Dr Carolan considered* an inquest unnecessary. The remains were taken from Matamata on Wednesday for interment at Taranaki.
