Whilst cranking a motor car on Saturday last Mr W. T. Darby sustained painful injuries to his hand through a backfire. The hand was incapacitated for some time, but through skilful medical attention is now progressing favorably. The demand for Jersey cows and heifers continues keen throughout the Matamata district. At the Richmond Down sale a prominent Jersey breeder gave it as his opinion that the "~" Thse in the price of land has forced farmers to recognise that Jerseys are the most profitable breed for the district.
