TIRAU.
Rapid progress is being make by Mr W. Jensen with the hairdressing saloon and billiard-room ho is building for Mr J. McCarthy at Tirau. The billiard room is being made to accommodate two tables and will be completed in a month’s time.
Messrs Robertson and Shedding’s Paerero estate on the Cambridge road has boon cut up and sold, and is now occupied by eight settlors, including Major A. M. Samuel, Messrs Selby, Edwards and Campbell. Each of the occupants is building and is working hard to improvo his holding.
Sir Robert Lockhart’s estate has been subdivided into seven or oight blocks and sold. Evidence of the progress of Tirau and tho surrounding district may he found in tho fact that three years ago there were 17 subscribers to the local telephone exchange, and that now 100 settlers are connected. The number of subscribers, is still increasing.
Mr J. Manning has sold his property of 100 acres at Tirau at £3B per acre.
