OMAHINE.
FARMERS’ UNION. The annual meeting of the Omahine branch was held in the school last week. The balance-sheet which showed a credit of £5 5s Id was adopted. Tho officers elected for the ensuing year were: —President, Mr Wright; vice-president, Mr Neal; secretary, Mr L. C. Vickers; auditor, Mr Neal; executive committee, president., vice-president, secretary, and Messrs Patterson. Pohlen, Francis 801 l and Priestly ; delegate to sub-provincial meeting, the president; delegate to Provincial conference, Mr Pohlen. It was decided to send a remit to the Provincial conference with regard to the practice of offering dairy cows for sale that have not been properly milked prior to the sale, and suggesting that the Stock department appoint inspectors to attend sales in the dairy season and stop the sale of such cows until they have been milked. The branch adopted the same method as it did two years previously to destroy rabbits and decided that the dates for poisoning be from June Ist to 14th, after which time the inspector will take proceedings against land owners who have ignored tho notices sent them. It was decided to have an official opening of tho Omahine bridge as soon as the contractors have finished the earthwork. A vote of £2 2s was passed to the secretary in recognition for his services during the past year.
