PAST DAIRYING SEASON.
Prospects of Produce. At the amalgamation proposal meeting in Morrinsville on Monday night Mr W. Goodfellow prior to spoaking on the schome referred to the past season, which he said had been a record for both companies. The output for both cheese and butter had boon a record. The delay in tho payment of the bonus had been no fault of tho companies. Tho quality of tho cheese and butter had been satisfactory. He explained at some length the history of fixing the price for butter. They had asked 1965, the Home Government offorod 1745. When the final decision was arrived at the majority of the committee were away. Though they had sought to havo the contract reduced to one year they were unsuccessful, and tho prico was fixed at 181 s for 2 years. Speaking on the future he holievod butter would be better than cheeso. The cheese producing countries had not suffered through the war and the quantity of cheese had increased. In New Zealand it had gone up at least 20 per cent, Canada had increased its output, and tho United States had again entered the market. With tho butter countries the position was tho reverse. Denmark and Siberia had both suffered. Australia and New Zealand were now large exporting countries. The position of butter in cool store was vastly better than last year the quantity being much smaller, whereas the quantity of cheese was larger. He was pleased to say that the shipping position was vastly better.
