OBITUARY.
Rev. W. Venables. Regret was general throughout Morrinsville when the news of the death of the Rev. W. Venables was received hero yesterday. On the departure of the late Captain Chaplain C. A. Mallett for tho front the Rev. W. Venables took up the duties of vicar of the Morrinsville - Matamata parish and filled that position until the appointment of the Rev. G. K. Muir. Ho was a wonderful man for his age, being 80 years old, and having travelled and seen many places was a charming conversationalist. Prior to coming to Morrinsville lie was assisting in the Nelson diocese, but little is known of his- life prior to that. He had a son in Canada and on leaving Morrinsville it was his intention to go to that Dominion, and he spoke about visiting England and making a trip to Palestine. But his hopes were never realised. During the last few months his health became indifferent and ho underwent an operation in Auckland for ail internal growth, which proved unsuccessful and he passed away yesterday morning.
