Among the prizewinners at the Cambridge show was Earl Johnston, who won the champion pony hunter class, and was champion boy rider and best bareback rider. Mr and Mrs N. A spell would be beneficial to the son of Wauchope.
During transit from Matamata to the Cambridge show on Monday, the straw in the track containing Mr T. Bottomley’sfamous fat bullock got afire—it is presumed by the sparks from the engine. The rumour WBB circulated on Tuesday that the animal had to be destroyed, but we are informed that the beast, although badly burnt, competed at the show and was awarded first prize, for heaviest bullock. This is the first occasion the animal, which is estimated to weigh IYi tons live weight, has been shown in the Waikato, but it hn3 secured many first prizes in Taranaki, never having been beaten. v
