ON THE SCREEN.
“ Idle Wives.” The powerfully dramatic pic-ture-drama “ Idle Wives ” which will be screened at Matamata. on Saturday is a Universal production of distinctly remarkable quality and plot. It is a long play, running to seven reels, but the interest is so well sustained that it holds the attention at full pitch to the end. In parts it moves with breathless speed, and the picture should be a great force for good since it so unflinchingly reyeals the penalties of wrong-doing. It is really a picture within a picture. There are three sets of people all contemplating separate acts of folly. By a coincidence they all attend a picture-show where a picture is being screened in which are three similar sets of people who actually commit similar follies to those which the others were contemplating, and they are thus made to realise the danger which they were courting. It is a distinctly novel motif and contains a strong lesson for all those who treat life and its perils too lightly. The cast is a strong one and the play is certainly one which should not bo missed. This picture will be supported by a 1000 feet Pathe interest picture “ Across the Border.”
