The National Government
To the Editor. Sir—A local in your issue of the 13th instant reporting certain of my statements at Putaruru regarding the National Government credits mo, no doubt due to condensation, with words which convey an entirely different meaning to what I stated. I did not say " the National Government had outlived its usefulness, and the people were tired of it." What I did say, and without reservation, was that many people who condemned the National Government did not realise that it had no future career to live and work for. It was only an expedient established for a definite purpose, and after the next war loan of £10,000,000 had been raised, and capital expenditure in connection with winning the war finished, and peace signed up, it would havo got to the end of its usefulnesss.—l am etc., J. A. YOUNG. Hamilton, 18/2/19.
