A picnic in connection with the Methodist ohurch will be held at Okoroire hot springs on New Year’s Day. A number of farmers were fined at the last sitting of the Te Awamutu court for neglecting to take adequate steps to cope with the rabbit pest. The Auckland-Rotorua express was delayed yesterday through the Thames express crashing into a motor lorry at Ohinewai. Two women were hurt, the driver of the lorry escaping with a slight cut. Some little excitement was occasioned in the Morrinsville picture show oh Boxing night. A film accidently ignited, and somebody raised the cry of “Fire!” This caused a mild stampede, despite the assurances of the management that there was no cause for alarm. Prompt action by a member of the police force, however, reassured the assemblage, and they were induced to reassume their seats. Stallion straying. • ' i. Straying dog advertised for.
