ON THE SCREEN.
“The Gown of Destiny.” The idea of “ The Gown of Destiny,” a Triangle feature to be shown at Matamata,on Saturday, was a brilliant inspiration. There are fully half a dozen aspects to the story and it-is equally interesting from all of them except one. The cast is a strong one, including as it does Alma Rubens, Lillian West, and J. Barney Sherry, while Herrera Tejedde is admirably suited to the role of the man who by profession was a designer of gowns, and after being rejected for (military service dreamed of a wonderful design. In due course a gown was made according to it, and while the designer was lamenting the fact that he was unable to serve his beloved country, France, the gown went its fateful way working unsuspected miracles, all to the benefit of the designer’s country, and even saved the life of his mother and father. The programme includes an exciting instalment of the mystery drama “ The Double Cross,” and a Gaumont Graphic.
