MATAMATA The Funnel's’ Auctioneering Coy., Ltd., held its monthly sale at Matamata oin Wednesday, when about 800 head of cattle and 500 sheep were yarded. A pen of 8 fat steers sold by Mr A. IT. Lambourne realised £lB Is per head. A pen of 2-year empty Hertford heifers sold for Mr Gardner (Walton) realised £lO apiece. Prices were : Bhecp, fat. owes 32s (id, smaller 2Ss Od, hoggets 235, ewes and lambs 23s 3d. Cattle, fat steers £ls 5s to £lB Is, fat cows £l2 17s, lighter £lO 2s Gd, store cows £0 to £8 10s, yearling steers (good) £5 17s Od to £6 10s, yearling heifers £1 19s to £5 12s Gd, 2-year steers to £B, 18 to 24-month heifers £7 0s to £7 15s, 2-year Hereford heifers £lO. Dairy cattle Springing cows £l4 to £lO 15s, heifers (choice) £ls 10s to £l7, others £lO to £l3 ss, bulls, Shorthorns 15 gns to 17 gns, others £8 to £ll. WAIHOU. There was a big yarding last Friday. The cattle and pigs wore keenly competed for ; a few pens of sheep we quitted at late rates; store stock was not in demand, and good quality dairy sorts brought fair prices, but backward sorts were dull of sale. Prices :—Pigs, good weaners up to 30s, others to 21s 6d, slips to 425, porkers 68 j, sows in pig £4 15s. Fat bullocks made up to £l7 5s for prime, and £ls 5s for fair quality ; fat cows up to £lB for a very special beast, £l4 Pis Od for good class, and smaller sorts up to £ll 12s Gd. A three yeai Shorthorn bull made 12.fgns, others £8 to £9, 18months to 2-year Shorthorns 4gns. to sgns. Jerseys £3, yearlings £2 os to £2 15s. Good dairy cows made from £l6 5s to £l9 ss, others from £9 to £l4 10s, .springing heifers ranged about £9 to £l4, one choice Shorthorn making £lO 15s. Two year store heifers made from £7 os to £7 15s, 15-month heifers £5 5s to £6 2s Od. MORRINSVILLE. There was a good yarding of stock at Dalgaty and Co’s sale on Tuesday. There was a poor demand for stores, and several good lines were “ passed in.” Anything good in dairy stock was in demand. Prices : Fat cows £lO 5s to £l2 15s ; store cows, £6 5s to £8 ; 3 year steers, £ll lCs; 2 year steers, £8 5s to £9 5s ; 2 year heifers, £7 5s to £8 2s Gd ; yearling steers, £5 15s to £7 ss; yearling heifers. £4 10s to £5 15s ; dairy cows in milk, £ls to £2O; others, £9 17s 6d to £l3 ; spring heifers, £9 5s to £l3 15s, MORRINSVILLE BULL SALE Though the prices ruling at the Farmers’ Auctioneering company’s Morrinsville bull sale on Tuesday were a bit better than any obtained at any bull sale in the district this year they showed a considerable drop in comparison with those prevailing here lust year. Most of the entries were sold under the hammer. Shorthorns were again the numerous cattle. Mr J. Bell had a number of yearlings which made 191 gns, 17 to 16 gns. Two stud bulls went cheaply at 191 and 17]- gns. Mr A. Orr got 27 gns for a 2-year animal, 22 guineas for a 3-year beast, and 16 and 14 gns for two yearlings. Mr VV. Corrigan secured £24 for a bull, and from that price to 14 gns. for others. Other bulls ranged from 10 to -16 gns. In Herefords Mr A. Orr topped the market, getting 41 guineas for a stud 3-year-old animal. For 32yearolds Mr Orr secured 22] gns a piece. Others made from Bto 10 gns. In tho Red Polls Mr O. Stewart headed tho list, getting 23] gns. for a 2-year-old animal. Mr A. Orr secured 19 gns. for a two-year bull. Others made from 16 to 18 gns. In Holsteins Mr A. Robins secured from 14 to 16 gns. for his entry, and Mr A. Orr got 17] gns for a 2-year animal. Others made from 9 to 15 gns. There wero only a few Jerseys entered, and the top price was paid for a beast entered by Mr Townsend, 16] gns.
