WALTON.

On Friday last the school children held a most successful evening in the hall in aid of the Red Cross fund. It took the form of a bazaar, interspersed with games and competitions. There was a large attendance and the proceeds amounted to over £37, which must have been very gratifying to the teachers, especially as it was got up at very short notice. On Tuesday evening a meeting was held in the hall to considor the advisability of starting a debating society. A short debate on prohibition versus license was indulged in. Those present constituted themselves a committee with power to add. It was decided to hold a meeting every fortnight.
