PERIA QUEEN.
"At Homes." During the Queen Carnival campaign the supporters of the Peria Queen have held some very enjoyable "At Home " functions at various residences. Considerable sums have been derived at each, by conducting guessing competitions and card parties etc. The first was held at Mrs Reynold's, then followed one at Mrs Duxfield's to be followed by one at Mrs Crabb's. On Saturday a large number of people visited " Blennerville," the home of the Khaki queen, Mrsßlennerhassett. The evening was devoted to music, dancing and cards, and was indeed pleasant. On Monday again many residents from throughout the country-aid* visited the Matamata homestead, "The Tower." The grounds were lit up with Chinese lanterns; a billiard tournament was held and two rooms and the verandahs were given over to the dancers. A veleta waltzing competition was won by Miss Quinlan and Mr M. McDermott. By all those present the evening was voted a most brilliant one, thoroughly to the credit of the host and hostess, Mr and Mrs Beeson.
