At the Westfield sale on Wednesday, last week's prices were maintained. Sixteen steers from Messrs Mears Bros., Walton, averaged £l9 14s lOd and nine from Mr W. Gardner, Walton, averaged £lB lis lid. INTERESTING TO FARMERS. Many dairymen persist in the old idea of feeding the weaned calves on skim milk, whey, or Bome home-made mixture. To do so means the loss of pounds of profit that might be theirs. The calf needs fat if he is to thrive and become a profitable animal—but skim milk lacks this very element.
