WAIOMOU.

A sale of work, raffles etc. organised by the ladies of the district in aid of the Okoroire queen was held in the school on Friday last. Afternoon tea was partaken of, and dips for the children kept the little ones merry. Red Cross work was done by the ladies. At night a dance was held in the school and was largely attended. A splendid supper was provided. Mr Carruth acted as auctioneer in a sale of baskets, and proved himself an excellent knight of the hammer, the whole of the proceeds amounting to over £25, which is very creditable for a small district.
