ON THE SCREEN.
" Fop Fpancei" In the grand military drama " For France," to be screened at Matamata on Saturday. Gerald Ackland (Edward Earle) aviation student in Paris, joins the flying corps of the French army when war breaks out. His fiancee Marthe (Betty Howe) and her father (Frank Anderson) move I from Paris to a farm on the Marne. Germans quarter themselves at the place and their leader attacks Marthe. Gerald descends from the skies just in time to save her. A detachment of English arrive and spend the night on adjacent grounds. In the morning they are attacked by the reinforced Germans. It is only through the heroism of Gerald that the English are saved from utter annihilation. He mans a machine gun until assistance comes in the shape of French cavalry. The programme includes a ratling good thousand feet Keystone comedy, a scenic and a Gaumont graphic, besides the ninth instalment of the detective serial " The Black Box."
