RED CROSS WORK.
Peria Branch’s Effort. The ladies of the Peria branch of the Auckland Women’s Patriotic League held a Red Cross “ shop ” afternoon on Wednesday. The shop was particularly well patronised all day, the farmers attending the Farmers’ Auctioneering Coy’s sale being the best customers. The luncheon and afternoon tea tables were kept well occupied until dark, and when the day’s business was concluded a substantial sum of £4O had been realised. The ladies worked particularly hard to ensure success, and the result was fully up to their anticipation. The following ladies were.the energetic workers■ Mrs W. Blennerhassett (president), Mrs E. Beeson (secretary); waitresses, Mesdames England (2), Misses Odgers, Flett, Bates (2), Duxfield (2), J. Edwards, Y. Blennerhassett, Downey, and C. Quinlan ; chefs, Mesdames Crabb, Day, Duxfield and Reynolds ; produce, Mesdames Blennerhassett, Beeson, Payze and B. C. Taylor.
