The well-known Mangateparu estate, the property of Mr A. Bell, has been acquired by the Government for the purpose of a returned soldiers’ settlement. The property, which is 4,400 acres in extent, and is about five miles from Morrinsville, is 1 all cleared and is in good grass. Opinions of farmers is that it will make a first-class settlement. The price has not yet been divulged, but Mr Bell told a “ Star ” representative that he accepted £5 an acre less than he would otherwise have done on account of it being secured for the returned soldiers.
