MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
Undefended Cases. At Matamata, on Saturday, before Mr R. W. Dyer S.M, judgment, with costs, was given for.the plaintiffs in the following undefended cases : Edward Strong v. H. A. Jones, £SO; W. M. Griffiths v. 'F. Greenwood, £l3 ss; F. W. Hosking v. M. Deed, £4. Under a judgment summons, Rose Bros. Ltd. v. D. Lennox (Tirau), defendant was ordered to pay 5s a week off a debt of £l7 17s 4d ; in default go to goal for 21 days. A BOY’S KEEPAn application by the police for a mother to be ordered to contribute towards the maintenance of her son in the Burnham Industrial school was adjourned until next court day. The mother asked that her son be released to help on the farm, but the Magistrate stated that it was not within his province to grant this. The boy had been in trouble twice, and was now under firm control. It was explained that the father was working out of the district, that a son had been killed at the front and that another was enlisting in July.
