TIRAU.

A well-attended meeting of the Patetere branch of the Farmers’ union was held at Tirau on March 25th. • Letters were read from the executive advising how to deal with the Meat Trust, and asking that subscriptions be collected in aid of the King Country disaster. Messrs F. Goodwin and W. H. Allen were appointed to collect subscriptions. - It was decided to hold a concert and dance in the Tirau hall this month to bring the union before the farmers. Arrangements were left in the hands of the chairman and secretary. The election of officers then took place as follows : —President, Mr W. H. Allen ; vice-president, Mr It. G. Lewis ; secretary and treasurer, Mr P. Dee; auditor, Mr W. Jordon ; committee, Messrs I'. Goodwin, Sweeney, Manning, Beddie and H. Bayly. The annual subscription was fixed at £1 per annum. Mr W. H. Allen was appointed delegate to the annual conference.
