PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.

Harvest Thanksgiving. The above church held its annual thanksgiving service on Sunday afternoon. The minister of the church, Rev. R. W. Jackson, officiated and preached a sermon befitting the occasion based on the text, “ Thou shalt not delay to offer the first of thy ripe fruits,” Exodus 22 —29. A large and appreciative congregation was present and listened to the discourse with marked interest. The church was beautifully and tastefully decorated with rare flowers and fruits, which gave the interior of the building a charming appearance. The ladies of the congregation were responsible for the beautifying of the church, which did great credit to their skill in the art of floral embellishment. The hymns were appropriately chosen, and heartily sung by all present. A. sacred duet by Mrs Jackson and Mr P. J. Randall was tastefully and feelingly rendered during the service and much appreciated. Mrs M. Griffiths ably presided at the organ. On Thursday evening a sale of produce was held in the Farmers’ Union hall and by it nearly nine pounds was realised for church funds. Those in attendance were representative of all churches. Mr B. O. Taylor officiated. At the conclusion the Rev. Jackson proposed a hearty vote of thanks to Mr Taylor and all who had assisted.
