PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.

Successful Social. An enjoyable evening was spent at the Matamata Presbyterian church on Tuesday, March sth, the occasion being the presentation of prizes to the children attending the Sunday school. A competition, “ the recitation of Psalm 34,” resulted in Daisy Bishop gaining first prize and Vera Fitzgerald second prize for girls, whilst Roy and Clifford Dawson gained first and second prize respectively for boys. During the evening a presentation of a silver cake dish was made to Mrs Robson by the scholars of the Sunday school. The presentation was made by the Rev. Jackson. Mrs Robson suitably responded. Songs by members of the congregation enlivened the evening and were greatly appreciated. Among the contributors to the programme were Mr and Mrs Jones, Miss Fagan, Mrs Cranton and Mrs Jackson. A number of the scholars recited very nicely.

Prizes for excellent work were presented by Mr Jones (the superintendent) to Hunter Laird, Daisy Bishop, Winnie Banks, Quentin Yanko, Vera Fussey; and to Fred Free for good conduct. -After the musical part of programme refreshments were handed round.
