A FAMOUS TEMPLE.
The Temple of Heaven, at Pekinov was formerly visited once a year by tna Chinese Emperor to give an account o| his empire and its affairs during th£ previous twelve months. This was forth in writing, and the manuscript! were then placed in the furnace and in. that way consigned to the Emperor Heaven. The temple is one of the mos| beautiful and interesting sights o| picturesque Peking. The walls ing the temple, the royal the altar, and the grounds are threj miles in circumference, and the ""hiij marble structures have blue and g-r6<jsls oorcelain tiles.
