OKAUIA.

On Thursday, December 27th, a social gathering was held in the sohool-room, to bid farewell to Private Michael Fogerty, who was home on final leave from camp. The function proved a great success. A short but most enjoyable programme of vocal and instrumental music was greatly appreciated by all present. The following ladies and gentlemen contributed items:— Mrs H. R. Hesketh (violin), Miss Worm a Garland, Messrs Fogerty and G. Fogerty. During the interval Mr S. W. White presented the guest of the evening with a a set of military hair brushes, as a slight token of the esteem in which he is held by his friends. In making the presentation Mr White was most happy in his remarks. Private Fogerty having suitably responded, refreshments and dancing followed. The very excellent dance music was supplied by Mrs-/ Austing (piano), Mr Graveson (violin) and Mr Bedford (flute).
