STOCK COMMISSIONS.
Considepsd by Farmers. I A letter re commissions on sales of stock from the Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Coy., dealt with at a previous meeting and referred to committee, was again before the Matamata branch of the Farmers’ union last week with the committee’s report. The latter recommended that the following letter be forwarded to the company : “ We regret that the first page of your letter should appear to cast reflections on the bona-fides of the aims of the Farmers’ union, for we think the meeting referred to will be of great benefit to the Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Coy. and the farmers in general, by bringing forward the true facts of the position of the Farmers’ Auctioneering company in comparison with the other auctioneering companies doing business in the Dominion,as enumerated in your extensive report, which will be of great interest to both shareholders and non-sharehold-ers doing business with the firm, and probably would not have been available but for the action taken by the sub-provincial districts. This branch has always supported your company both in business of stock sales and produce department, as will be shown by your books, through the past eleven years and we endorse the resolution adopted by the Waikato subprovincial executive at Hamilton on September 21st last.” The letter went on to suggest that the financial position of the company might be improved were the directors to introduce a scheme on the principle adopted by various dairy companies, viz., issuing shares to the shareholders in accordance with the amount of business done by them individually through the company.
