Trip to Cook Islands with Mayor
The newly formed, ‘Maui Pomare Social Club’ of Tokoroa will be going to the Cook Islands for three weeks holiday; leaving on the 17 December this year. The group which consists of 150 travelling members will be accompanied by the Mayor of Tokoroa, Mr Higgins.
The ‘Maui Pomare Social Club’ is not formed by Maori people of New Zealand, but by the people of Ureia village of Aitutaki, who are residing in Tokoroa. The club is only a few months old.
Their Chairman is Mr Konito Pakoti, the secretary Mr Dennis Tunui and the treasurer Mrs Lucia Fred. The Club was first started when the Ureia villagers in Tokoroa felt that there was a need to assist their fellow villagers in Aitutaki in terms of sending sporting goods. After Satisfying their friends with sport goods, the club continued to exist into a membership of two hundred.
