COMMUNITY ADVISER, PONSONBY There is a vacancy for an experienced social worker to join the Community Development Service in the Auckland City Council’s Department of Planning and Social Development. The successful applicant will be a member of the Community Advisers team. The task will be to maintain and develop the programme of community service and activities sponsored by the City Council in the Ponsonby, Herne Bay, Freemans Bay area. This includes the work of the Ponsonby Citizens Advice Bureau, activities associated with community centres, and assessment of the need for school holiday and after-school activities. The adviser will also be expected to maintain liaison between the City Council and local community groups in matters relating to social needs and the provision of community services and facilities. Applicants should have successful experience in community work. Experience and understanding of Maori and Pacific Islands cultures is a valuable asset and a recognised degree or diploma in social work is desirable. Salary ranges from $lO,OBO — $11,092 per annum plus a payment of $9lB in lieu of overtime.
