Resource Centre
The aims of multiculturalism in New Zealand are being given a big boost with the expansion of courses at Herne Bay’s Pacific Islanders’ Educational Resource Centre this year.
Now in its second year, the Centre offers undoubtedly the widest range of courses covering Polynesian language, cultural and social activities in New Zealand. Language classes include English for newly arrived migrants, Samoan, Tongan, Niuean, Tokelauan and Cook Island Maori. There are also specialised courses for teachers, doctors, lawyers, business people or anyone who may be
involved with the Pacific Islands community.
A new course aimed at understanding the differences between the New Zealand and Polynesian ways of life has been introduced this year for the first time.
